The Alien Registration Card (ARC) is for foreigners staying in Korea for more than 90 days. This will be your identity card in Korea, and it is important that you keep it with you at all times.
Where: You will have to go down to the immigration office nearest to your place of residence within 90 days of arrival in Korea. So if you’re living in Seoul, go down to the Seoul Immigration office. If you’re living in Incheon, go down to the Incheon Immigration Office.

At UIC, your Residential Assistants (RAs) will often organize trips to the Immigration Office from the dorms in Songdo for international students. You can, of course, visit the Immigration Office without the RAs to suit your own schedule. The Immigration Office tends to be crowded, so you might want to visit it early in the morning.
Here are the required documents to apply for an ARC with a D-2 Student Visa:
Note that the staff at the immigration office do not really speak English. Occasionally, guides who speak English and Mandarin at the immigration office may help visitors with translation.
Collection: You will be able to collect your ARC after 2 weeks. You will have to bring the application receipt form (given to you during your previous visit) to the Immigration Office in order to collect your ARC.
Alternatively, you can opt for the mailing service with a fee. They will deliver your ARC to the address you have given them. However, because they require you to receive your ARC directly from their delivery person, you will have to be free at the time of delivery. You will also have to make sure to include a Korean phone number (perhaps use a friend's or RA's one), as the courier will need to contact you when he/she arrives. Fret not if you miss the delivery! The courier will pass a note to the security guards who will leave or stick it on your mailbox. This note will direct you to the district postal office, about 10 min taxi ride from the Songdo dormitories. The ARC will remain there for about 1 ~ 2 weeks after the missed delivery, after which they will send it back to the immigration office. You will just have to head to the immigration office to collect your ARC. When heading to the postal or immigration office, be sure to bring along your receipt form and passport along for verification.
Benefits: With your ARC, there are so many things and services you can get! These include:
With life made so much easier with your ARC, make sure you apply for your ARC as soon as possible!
